The Scandia Antique Mall features a mixed collection of various items, from new to used, and even several different types of home products and furniture, including antique, retro, or primitive. In the back of the buildings is a year-round garden with flowers in the summer and decorating ideas, such as wheels, pumps, and metal chairs; the garden is now twice as large, expanding when a neighboring building was taken down.
Featured in the first building of the Scandia Antique Mall are vendors, and varieties of glassware. In the second building, old items are displayed from the Scandia Journal, such as the printing press and related machines. The other two buildings host a number of diverse collectibles and gifts.
"It just gives people more things to see and look at, and things to do in Scandia, Now we have a variety, we have a gift shop and antiques and collectibles."
However, the Mall has more to offer than only antique items. Products from several citizens are also featured, including home decor from Dawn Brown and 3 Cedars, and paintings, china, and cards by Denise Dove. Afghans and pillows are displayed from Mary Jo Aurand, and Levi Haswell, Belleville, has some of his chainsaw wood carvings placed for sale in the buildings.
Items at the Mall also tend to change with the seasons.
"You just never know what you're going to find when go in there, we change it all the time."
The Styleaire Beauty Salon that is operated by Jane Ann and her sister-in-law Elaine, is located downtwon Scandia as well. There you can also find memorabilia of hair dryers and other salon essentials of the past.
Though the Scandia Antique Mall displays numerous ideas, decorative items and antique collectibles, "We try to have prices that are reasonable and affordable." Each building has its own unique products, but there will almost always be an equally special price tag. Even most items from the gift shop are in a modest shopper's budget, featuring deals and steals, all in the little town of Scandia.
